I have been talking to my daughter in English since my wife was pregnant. We live in a Spanish speaking country. My 22-month-old daughter can amazingly understand English.
The fact that children become bilingual so naturally when parents agree on which languages will be addressed to whom in the household is surprising. Words are powerful. We find this principle first in the Bible and now scientists agree on this same issue. Words over tones, as the article mentions, create significant differences.
Early stimulation does create a difference when we are talking about learning any specific skill. The more quality time we spend with our children, does not only have a tremendous effect on our relationship with them, but also in their learning. The sky is the limit…
